Be 1 of the 100
With our small but effective team, we operate 5 ministries. We are seeking 100 partners, in the next 100 days, who will pledge to support our work through a one-time or monthly donation.
Before you scroll down to get into our impact statements and the solutions we provide to meet the needs in the community, a few quick items:
Before we look at each LifeWorks ministry and the needs they address, we’d like to invite you into a mental exercise to illuminate the real change that happens through our programs.
You’re a single mother, with two children under the age of 5. After a stay at Community CARES’ family shelter, you are working and were able to get an apartment. But your kids are sleeping on cushions and you have an air mattress. No couch. No table. Not even any lights in the bedrooms. The glow of the tv is how you are able to shuffle in the dark to check on the muffled voice calling out for you in the middle of the night.
Although you are working, there is no money at the end of the month to think about furniture. That’s when the questions can start to creep in.
How long until you get a good night sleep? Until your apartment is more than linoleum floor and a few cushions on the ground?
How long until you crack from the exhaustion? Or until the poor sleep catches up to one of your kids and they are sent home from school sick? And without a support system, you have to take off work – and missing two days means you are short on your bills – the spiral starts again.
Bills add up. Rent is late…then missed. You receive a notice that if you don’t leave the apartment, you will be evicted. Knowing that an eviction on your record, means you won’t be able to get an apartment again for a long time, you choose to leave the apartment. And you and your children are homeless again.
When you move into your new apartment, you are referred to LifeWorks’ LifeStyle program.
A friendly and compassionate Intake Coordinator reaches out and takes an interest in your story. They talk you through what is available through LifeStyle – furniture, cleaning products, kitchen items, bedding and blankets.
You are scheduled to meet with the LifeStyle Coordinator to walk through the LifeStyle Showroom and pick out the couch, tables, chairs that you like. An appointment is made for the LifeWorks team to deliver your furniture and household items. The day arrives, and true to their word, a truck rolls up and your apartment is filled with furniture and dignity.
No more nights sleeping on the floor. No more makeshift tables. One less weight to wrestle with and worry about.
The LifeWorks team leaves. You let out a shriek of joy. Your support system just grew a little larger.
Your hope that things can get better is restored.
We provide the opportunity to rewrite stories and experience transformation.
Each of our 5 ministries were intentionally created to address a gap within the community

Families coming out of homelessness are unable to afford the basics needed to furnish an apartment.
LifeStyle takes in furniture and household goods donations from the community and provides them to those coming out of homelessness.

There is no reliable public transportation in Carlisle, making it difficult to get to or keep a job.
LifeCycle makes refurbished bicycles available to purchase or earn for those needing a reliable way to work.

Neighbors don’t want to fill the landfills with items they no longer need, but don’t want the hassle of listing them for sale.
LifeWorks Marketplace takes donations of good and like new items that are then sold at discount prices, with the money going to support other LifeWorks ministries.

Establishing housing is only the first hurdle to life transformation. Many neighbors lack the support system to make lasting change.
LifeHouse participants are able to rent a comfortable apartment, while receiving supportive services to be held accountable to the steps needed to progress towards their goals.

When seeking assistance, people are often shuffled from one organization to another..then back again..trying to find a solution for their need.
Our Intake Coordinator empathetically listens to other’s stories and provides the proper referral and next steps to address their urgent needs.
By donating to the 100 in 100 campaign, you are leaving an impactful legacy and helping transform the lives of those we work with.
We’re launching a 100 day challenge! The goal over the next 100 days is to have 100 faithful donors commit to a monthly donation to help carry out the mission of LifeWorks.
